The Discovery Tour

For a few years now I have been seriously considering a "Early American" tour of the east coast - to which I've never really been. The furthest northeast I've been is western West Virginia - unless you count airports. However, since researching the history of my family, I have discovered many places in New England and Ontario, CA that are full of my relatives and family history and have also found information about a number of towns and villages named after or by my ancestors.

This page will house the list of places I intend to visit as I plan out this trip. It's going to be a crazy one!

In no particular order (yet!):

Canada
Cooksville, ON  named after Anna Christina's father, Jacob Cook
Dixie, Mississauga, ON where Moses Spafford Teeter, Sr. lived and died after moving from PA
Dixie Union Chapel where Jacob Cook and Moses Spafford Teeter are buried (and other family)
Teeterville, ON named after George Teeter, Moses Jr.'s brother-in-law (Moses Jr.'s brother)
Teeterville Pioneer Museum
Wiltse Pioneer Cemetery also this. Anna Christina's son, Jacob married Minerva Wiltse, sister of the brothers who founded Wiltsetown near Athens, ON.

New England
Lansing, NY apparently this area (and Ithaca) is full of my ancestors, graves and living relatives (some of which I am now in contact with!) and there's a Teeter Rd.
North Log Cabin (Lansing)

Teetertown, NJ Now a Preserve, named after John Teeter, Moses Sr.'s uncle

Revolutionary War
Valley Forge
White Plains Battleground
Washington Crossing
Saratoga

The West
Truckee, CA Jacob Teeter, Moses Jr.'s first cousin, moved to and became Constable of Truckee

The Founders
Monticello
Mount Vernon
Montpelier
(John) Adams National Historic Park

Other
Gettysburg
Dogfish Head Brew Pub & Restaurant
